CHECKING/CRACKING: It can be purely natural for all cedar log furnishings to develop some checks in the wood. Checking happens as a log releases moisture throughout or through the yearly progress rings. It does not have an effect on the structural integrity of the wood. All logs which have the heart of the tree will develop lengthwise cracks or checks. The check certainly not goes deeper than the heart.
